What happened

In its 25 October update, the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) identified the vessel in UKMTO report 181-26 as an LPG tanker. An unknown projectile hit it near Limah, Oman, on 22 October. No casualties or environmental impact were reported. JMIC kept the Hormuz threat level at severe. It estimated that about 194 vessels were at anchor near Fujairah and Khor Fakkan on 25 October.

Caracal analysis / Possible effects

Global logistics

Long waits could delay vessel arrivals, cargo transfers, and later port calls. Security checks could add time to a voyage. A vessel count does not give the delay for a particular shipment. Obtain a revised schedule from its operator.

Trade and supply chains

Delayed LPG and oil deliveries could require buyers to adjust stock plans or seek other supply. Longer vessel commitments could reduce available shipping capacity. These are possible effects; the update does not measure lost cargo volumes or new freight prices.

Industries to watch

LPG distributors, refiners, petrochemical plants, ship operators, and marine insurers may need to review affected cargo. Check supply cover, contract delivery dates, and crew needs together.

What to check next

  • Confirm the vessel position, port slot, and revised delivery date with the operator and port agent.
  • Check current navigation warnings, insurance terms, and stock cover before changing a shipment plan.

    Publication time:

Publication and update metadata show 16:22:41 UTC on 25 October. This report cites JMIC; it is not an independent vessel count. No complete edit history was available.

The update date is not the attack date. JMIC uses internal AIS estimates for congestion and excludes vessels with no AIS signal. AIS means Automatic Identification System. Different transit data cover different vessel groups. No complete traffic count, port closure, attacker identity, or cargo loss is established here.
